Why UTVs need rock lights more than trucks do
Headlights on a side by side throw forward and leave everything beside and beneath you dark. That is where the rut, the stump and the rock edge live. Ground facing pods fill in the gap, make trail obstacles readable at low speed, and make you far more visible to other riders in a dust cloud.
Waterproofing is the whole game
A UTV pod gets submerged, blasted with a pressure washer and packed in clay. We use IP68 rated sealed pods with potted electronics, marine grade heat shrink on every joint, and no in line connectors sitting in the splash path. That is the difference between lights that work next season and lights that fill with water in the first mud hole.
Wiring for vibration and cold
Machines shake harder than trucks and Alberta winters make cheap wire brittle. We loom and anchor every run so nothing rubs through on the frame, fuse at the battery, and use a switched relay so nothing drains the battery over the winter. Controllers go somewhere dry and reachable, not zip tied under the seat pan where water collects.
RGB colour or plain white
White pods give the cleanest usable ground light for actually riding. RGB gives you colour, modes and camp lighting for the trailer, and stays the popular pick for group rides. You can run either, or a white forward set with RGB accent pods, and everything is app or remote controlled.
Mounting on a RZR, Can-Am or quad
We mount to existing frame points wherever possible, avoid drilling into structural tubes, and aim the pods so the light lands on the ground rather than in the eyes of the rider behind you. Quads get a compact set that clears the suspension travel. We install in the Edmonton shop or mobile at your place, and can also ship a kit if you are building it yourself.

Are rock lights legal on a UTV in Alberta?
On private property and designated off highway trails you have wide latitude. On public roads Alberta restricts colours such as red and blue and forbids anything that mimics an emergency vehicle, so keep those off while road legal.
Will pressure washing kill my rock lights?
Not if they are IP68 pods with potted electronics and sealed joints. Avoid pointing the wand directly at connectors from a few centimetres away.
Do rock lights drain the battery?
No. LED pods draw very little power and we wire them through a switched relay so they cannot stay live when the machine is parked.
